Crítica| Review: “Torn: Trylle Trilogy #2”, Amanda Hocking

SINOPSE

BLURB
When Wendy Everly first discovers the truth about herself—that she’s a changeling switched at birth—she knows her life will never be the same. Now she’s about to learn that there’s more to the story…
She shares a closer connection to her Vittra rivals than she ever imagined—and they’ll stop at nothing to lure her to their side. With the threat of war looming, her only hope of saving the Trylle is to master her magical powers—and marry an equally powerful royal. But that means walking away from Finn, her handsome bodyguard who’s strictly off limits…and Loki, a Vittra prince with whom she shares a growing attraction.
Torn between her heart and her people, between love and duty, Wendy must decide her fate. If she makes the wrong choice, she could lose everything, and everybody, she’s ever wanted…in both worlds.

REVIEW
I finished reading this book on August 8,2012 and I rate it four stars. Although I gave five to the first volume, I felt that there was some "noise" in this one, with things jostling, thus I cut one star.
As for this story, the marriage to Tove was predictable, but Finn’s revelation about Tove’s sexual preferences was unexpected. It's always nice when something we weren’t expecting happens. I even thought he would become another wooer of Wendy.
I didn’t like the sudden and raw revelation that Oren was Wendy’s father. I think the meeting between the characters could have been more worked and developed, rather than a summarized passage so superficial. What if Wendy had stayed at least one day in the realm of her father and it was presented to us? It was something I would have liked to see explored.
Finally, what I liked the most in this book was the transformation of Elora, from a cold and bossy queen into something closer to a mother. It’s sad that this has only happened so near the end, when all Wendy wanted was a loving mother.
